Louis XV, also known as the "Well-Beloved," was born in 1710 and ascended to the throne of France at the age of five following the death of his great-grandfather, Louis XIV. As a young king, Louis was heavily influenced by his mother, the regent Marie Adélaïde, and his great-uncle, Philippe II, Duke of Orléans.
